My little one will turn 1 soon. Oh no and woo hoo! That pretty much sums all the feelings related to the event. Like my other kids, also this one will receive (big surprise) a quilt for a present. This time the new quilt is not very big, so there might be a need to make a bigger one later on. Oh well... This one has blueberry blocks on the top. I wanted them to look like someone is pouring the berries into a jar. For the background I quilted leaves and a little poem. I'm not going to try to translate it here, but there's something about gently rocking in the wind and having nice dreams. I was having difficult time deciding on how to quilt the blueberries. In the end I ended up framing the blueberries twice from the inside and then I quilted a heart inside each berry. Kind of cheesy, but I'll take it.
Tässä runon ensimmäinen säe. Here is the first verse of the poem.
Tässä toinen säe. Here's the second verse.
Lähikuva tikkauksesta. Sydämet ovat mustikoissa sikin sokin eri päin.
Here's a close up of the quilting. The hearts inside the blueberries are randomly oriented.
Taustaan löysin pienelle rakettitieteilijälle raketti ja satelliittikangasta (Robert Kaufmann, Spaced out) ja varastossa marinoitua Tula Pinkiä (Salt Water).
For the backing I was able to find rocket and satellite fabric for my little rocket scientist (Robert Kaufmann, Spaced out). The lower part is well marinated Tula Pink (Salt Water) from my stash.
Nyt enää nimilappu, pesu ja käyttöön. Now I have to label it, wash it, and give it to use.
Cute, CUTE quilt!! Congratulations on your finish!
